As part of the European Night of Museums, under the theme "Museums uniting a divided world", this activity proposes a space for encounter, reflection, and dialogue based on two significant moments in history: the Battle of Aljubarrota and the Catholic Reformation. Despite being distinct in time and nature, both historical moments – represented in the collections of the Museu de Alberto Sampaio – reveal contexts of tension, conflict, and transformation, inviting us to consider how contexts of division can also generate new forms of understanding and identity.
The initiative is structured around two moments. In each, two guests will present complementary readings on the event under analysis, offering diverse perspectives that will enrich historical understanding and stimulate critical thinking. The aim of this activity is to create an environment of sharing, where different interpretations will be in dialogue with each other. The public will also be invited to participate in a collective exercise to build up meaning.
