Under the theme “Museums uniting a divided world”, defined by ICOM to mark International Museum Day in 2026, the Museum of the Orient invites you to discover, with its team, the stories and multiple journeys that the collections tell. On May 18th, it will also be possible to reflect on the importance of collaborative work between museums, through guided tours led by curators to the featured pieces of the Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves House-Museum, the National Museum of Ethnology, and the National Museum of Ancient Art, as part of the Museum of the Orient's initiative “The museum invites…”.
In this spirit of unity, the Museum reinforces its commitment to a culture of all and for all, highlighting its fundamental role in promoting accessibility, ensuring that heritage and shared reflection are inclusive and accessible to diverse audiences, through tours with LGP (Portuguese Sign Language) interpreters and accessible museum tours.
